Good Roots is the name chosen for this program, a gateway and foundation into growing the First Nations STEM Futures Academy. Good Roots is a fully funded adventure for Grade 8 students from First Nations communities to discover Queen’s University and dive into exciting, hands-on STEM enrichment experiences.
Debuting in May 2025, this week-long program will host First Nations youth on campus in Kingston, Ontario. There will be up to five (5) weeks of programming total, with a cohort of 30 students each week. Qualifying students are resident on reserve, or resident directly proximate and attending on-reserve schools.
First Nations schools and education workers are encouraged to connect with us to learn more. Up to 10 students per school will be chosen to attend this opportunity, and a chaperone (also funded) will be required at a 1:5 ratio. Registration will be completed in conjunction with schools/community educational leadership. We are not accepting direct registrations from families at this time.
